The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Colchester Regional Hospital in the Northern Zone of Nova Scotia seeks to recruit a pathologist with Canadian certification in either anatomical or general pathology. The successful applicant will join 4 other members of the medical staff in the department.
Colchester Regional Hospital is a regional care institution and provides a broad range of medical care to patients in the Northern Zone of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. The department will handle over 19,000 surgical pathology specimens and 20 autopsies each year. There is no cytology at this site. The successful candidate will be expected to undertake clinical responsibilities in these services and a suitably qualified applicant will also have the opportunity to participate in the clinical oversight of the regional and community hospital laboratories in the Northern Zone. The Northern Zone is supported by three regional hospitals located in Truro, Amherst and New Glasgow, as well as several small community hospitals and health centres. Specialty services are distributed among the regional hospitals and the main laboratory is located in Truro.
Candidates must be certified, or eligible for certification, by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia and satisfy the credentialing requirements of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply; however, Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority. The closing date for receipt of applications will be December 31, 2018. The successful candidate will be expected to commence his/her appointment on July 1, 2019.
