IWK Health Centre / Dalhousie University, Halifax, NS

The Department of Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is recruiting a full time (1.0 FTE) psychiatrist for a 12 month locum in child and adolescent inpatient psychiatry.  The psychiatrist will provide general psychiatric inpatient care for children and adolescents.

The IWK is an academic tertiary care health centre for children, women and families in the Maritime Provinces.  It has a large Child and Adolescent Mental Health and Addictions Program in which the IWK Department of Psychiatry conducts its clinical work.  The Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Dalhousie University is one of the largest academic groups in Canada.  Under new leadership, it is a growing division with several exciting innovations underway.  The division provides teaching and research opportunities through its affiliation with the Dalhousie University Faculty of Medicine.

Halifax is the largest city in Atlantic Canada, an area of the country known as “Canada’s Ocean Playground.”  It is a friendly, family-oriented city, with a rich diversity of recreational, cultural and education opportunities.
