The Nova Scotia Health Authority is recruiting a generalist Obstetrician/Gynecologist to Truro, Nova Scotia. There is an opening for a fourth full-time OBGYN physician in our department, which provides a primary care Obstetrics service. There are 450 deliveries per year at our institution with a group of 3 Pediatricians providing neonatal support. This position comes with dedicated OR time with 2-4 days per month depending on each surgeon’s waitlist. In addition, there is access to a Minor Procedures area. This is a core teaching site for medical students and residents, as such an interest in medical education would be considered an asset.

The Colchester East Hants Health Centre is a regional hospital in Truro, Nova Scotia that serves a catchment area of approximately 60,000 people in northern Nova Scotia. This modern facility opened in 2012 and offers 124 inpatient beds, a 30-bed emergency room, a state of the art 7-bed ICU, a full range of medical and surgical services including Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, Obstetrics and Gynecology, General Surgery, Urology, Ophthalmology, Pathology, Psychiatry and Radiology.

Role:
Candidates will be expected to develop a general Obstetrics and Gynecology practice. They will also participate in the Labour Unit quality assurance and department administrative activities. The candidate will be expected to apply for a Clinical Faculty appointment with the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Dalhousie University. The successful candidate will contribute equally to the OBGYN call schedule.

Qualifications:
• FRCSC in Obstetrics/Gynecology
• Eligibility for a Nova Scotia license (OBGYN)
