Valley Regional Hospital (VRH), a 137 bed facility, is seeking an obstetrician/gynecologist to join the team of five. The physician will provide same services which includes low and high risk prenatal and obstetrical care, office and operative gynecology services, colposcopy as well as some diagnostic imaging services (hysterosalpingograms and biophysical profile ultrasounds).

Responsibilities are full scope of practice as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to the patients within the Western Zone, participating in call, and provide support to your own site but also to others in the Western Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage. Must be responsible to the Zone Department Head for Obstetrics & Gynecologist for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority. Must be available to respond to urgent matters while working or on call. This means that during regular work and scheduled call hours, you must be able to reach the hospital within 20 minutes of being called. Call is 1:5; physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well. Compensation is currently through fee-for-service.

Certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC)

Eligible for Licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS)

Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA)
