Porters Lake Medical Clinic is seeking a full-time family physician to join this well organized practice in Porters Lake.  Situated close to the lake and beautiful beaches, this practice provides a country setting with close proximity to Halifax.(15 minutes east of Dartmouth). This full scope family practice provides care to a congenial group of patients including geriatrics, prenatal & well baby care as well as minor procedures such as mole removals and IUD insertions performed in the office.  The office has Med Access EMR.  There is a good relationship with the specialists in Dartmouth.

This full time physician will also be part of the Collaborative Emergency Centre (CEC) located at the Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital in Musquodoboit Harbour (which is a 10 minute drive from the Porters Lake Clinic).  As part of the CEC care team, the physician will provide care to patients in the Emergency Department, the inpatient unit, as well as to the residents of the local nursing home. The ER call schedule is approximately 1 in 6, and inpatient unit rotation is approximately 1 in 6 (Monday to Friday only). It is not necessary for the physician to live in the Porter’s Lake community.

The office space at Porter's Lake Medical Clinic is shared with one other full-time physician and a part-time nurse practitioner who also practice as part of the CEC team at Twin Oaks.  The Porters Lake Clinic has 1 admin person secretary/office manager who has been with the clinic for 21 years. 

Remuneration for this position is based on current CEC rates. An annual income of a 1.0 FTE physician is approximately $260,000 per year. 

Candidates must be certified or be eligible for certification by Canadian College of Family Physicians and must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia.
ACLS certification required.
