About the Opportunity
South Shore Regional Hospital (SSRH), is seeking an obstetrician/gynecologist looking to join their team, in a very collegial, supportive environment. This position is a consultant OB practice only with primary obstetrical care provided by a group of family physicians. This physician will provide office and operative gynecology services, colposcopy as well as some diagnostic imaging services (hysterosalpingograms and biophysical profile ultrasounds) in this area that is very sought after. Call is 1:5. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well. Compensation is currently through alternate payment plan. In addition, specialists receive call stipends, remuneration for after-hours work on a FFS basis, and other incentives as available through the Master Agreement of Nova Scotia.
Located in Bridgewater, SSRH has 85 inpatient beds and was originally founded in 1988, SSRH is a primary and secondary care hospital and designated district trauma centre.

Responsibilities
- full scope of practice as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to the patients within the Western Zone
- participating in call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called
- provide support to your own site but also to others in the Western Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
- responsible to the Zone Department Head for Obstetrics & Gynecologist for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority

- locum 0.8 FTE with potential opportunity to become permanent position
- on-call participation
