About This Opportunity
Musquodoboit Harbour Family Practice and the team at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital are seeking two full-time Family Physicians to join their welcoming, supportive, and collaborative team, consisting of six physicians and two Nurse Practitioners, along with a broader site-based team which includes Social Workers, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, and Dietitians. The Family Physician at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital will have the opportunity to provide care within various services, such as CEC Emergency Department, Long Term Care, and a 16-bed inpatient unit along with their family practice. The call schedule for the Emergency Department is currently 1:6.
This position is compensated through the CEC hourly rate and is eligible for the current DHW incentive program. This site offers competitive overhead with no overhead charged for Emergency Department coverage.
Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital is located in Musquodoboit Harbour and is a short 40-minute drive from Halifax (30 minutes from Dartmouth).
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Examine patients and take their histories, order diagnostic tests and laboratory procedures
- Advise patients on health care, health promotion, and disease prevention
- Consultation and referral to other medical practitioners
- Act as a patient’s advocate
- Prescribe and administer medications and treatments, inoculations and vaccinations
- Report births, deaths, contagious and other diseases as per Nova Scotia Public Health requirements
