About the Opportunity

Yarmouth Regional Hospital (YRH), a 100 bed facility, is seeking an obstetrician/gynecologist to join the team. This position will involve both general Obstetrical and Gynecological expertise. The successful candidate will provide low risk prenatal and obstetrical care in a consultant role of support for five physicians who deliver primary care obstetrics. Office and peri-operative gynecology services will include surgical expertise with minimally invasive skills, colposcopy as well as some diagnostic imaging services (hysterosalpingograms and biophysical profile ultrasounds). This OB/GYN call is 1:3. Physicians have an opportunity to work as a preceptor with medical students and residents as well. Compensation is through alternate payment plan. In addition, call stipends and other incentives are available through the Master Agreement between the Province of Nova Scotia and Doctors Nova Scotia.

Responsibilities

  • full scope of practice as an obstetrician/gynecologist providing care to the patients within the Western Zone
  • participating in call and able to respond to urgent matters within 20 minutes of being called
  • provide support to your own site but also to others in the Western Zone if required, which will include day-time coverage and occasional overnight/weekend coverage
  • responsible to the Zone Department Head for Obstetrics & Gynecologist for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority
