Dr. Ade Akindele graduated from the prestigious College of Medicine, University of Ibadan in Nigeria in May 2000.

After starting off his medical career doing rotations through Orthopedic Surgery, Geriatric Medicine and Emergency medicine in the United Kingdom, Dr. Akindele then completed the Kent, Surrey and Sussex residency program in Family Medicine.

After 17 years of medical practice in the UK, Dr. Akindele decided it was time to seek a new challenge and met with physician recruiters at Nova Scotia Health.

“The physician recruiters did a great job of selling Nova Scotia to me as a great place to rekindle my love for medicine and enjoy a good work life balance,” explained Dr. Akindele. “Since my move to Halifax, I have indeed enjoyed the best times of my career in my thriving practice in Bedford, Nova Scotia.”

Dr. Akindele said he has the best patients and feels that they care about him and his family.

“My wife - who is an Anesthetist in Halifax - and my two sons love it here,” said Dr. Akindele. “We are part of an ever-growing community of UK physicians who have made Nova Scotia home.”

Dr. Akindele encouraged any doctor planning to move to Canada to consider practicing in Nova Scotia.

“You will enjoy the very best of what Canada has to offer,” said Dr. Akindele.
