A province that’s easy to move to.
Nova Scotia is the first province in Canada to offer a pathway to full medical licensure to physicians who have completed their American board exams.
There’s no longer a requirement for Royal College certification. The College will also accept enrolment in the relevant continuing professional development (CPD) program in the United States in lieu of the Maintenance of Certification (MOC) program with the Royal College or the Mainpro+ program with the College of Family Physicians of Canada.
For information on these changes, read the press release.
Nova Scotia, on the stunning east coast of Canada, really does offer it all. Our province of about 1 million people is nearly surrounded by the ocean, so no wonder it influences every corner of life here. On sea, enjoy kayaking, sailing, swimming, and yachting. On land, there’s hiking, skiing, and cycling. And where the two meet, there’s stunning white sand beaches, rugged coastlines that host fishing towns, and beautiful, affordable homes overlooking it all.
Site Visit Program It’s understandable that you may want to visit Nova Scotia before committing to relocating. This program reimburses you (and a plus one) for a one-time visit to a potential practice site. You must be eligible for a license in Nova Scotia, and work with a recruiter to obtain approval from Nova Scotia Health prior to your visit.
Relocation Allowance If you have an accepted offer for work in Nova Scotia, you may be eligible for a relocation allowance of up to $10,000. For more information, Connect with a Nova Scotia Physician Recruitment Consultant.
Nova Scotia Department of Health & Wellness Incentive Programs The Department of Health and Wellness in Nova Scotia offers competitive incentive programs for physicians beginning a practice in Nova Scotia.
